1.         Reduce the amount of sodium intake.

Sodium is an integral part of our diet, but very little is needed. Too much sodium in your diet can cause high blood pressure and a greater risk of heart disease or stroke. Only eat foods that contain little salt or even those without salt. Read food labels carefully and eat lots of fruits and vegetables.

2. Drink lots of water. 

We all know that water is vital for us to survive. Try to drink at least eight glasses of water a day, and if more, it's better. Well, water can also be beneficial to our hearts. 

Drinking water can help prevent heart disease and strokes because it helps prevent blocked arteries in the heart and brain.

3. Quit smoking. 

Smoking is a significant cause of cardiovascular disease. Smoking can cause fat buildup in your arteries; this is called atherosclerosis. 

You significantly increase your risk of heart attack by continuing to smoke. The longer you continue to smoke, the greater the chance to experience an attack.

4. Get regular exercise. 

Constantly moving and active in daily activities because one of the causes of heart disease is due to lack of movement. 

Exercise strengthens your heart and helps improve blood circulation. Aerobic exercise is better for your heart; this can include walking or jogging, low-impact aerobics, cycling, and jumping rope. You have to exercise for about 20 to 30 minutes three to four times a week.

5. Limit the Amount of Caffeine.

There are still several conflicting studies regarding coffee and caffeine and their effects on the heart. It has been proven that caffeine increases blood pressure so try to reduce the amount of liquid that contains caffeine that you drink.

6. Avoid drinking alcohol.

Yes, I know it's easier said than done, but too much alcohol can cause high blood pressure and heart failure. Excessive drinking can also trigger a stroke. 

Do a moderate, one or two drinks for men and one for women if you drink.

7. Enough sleep. 

Sleep is essential for many reasons, and that includes heart health. Some studies have shown that not getting the right amount of sleep, at least seven hours, can cause arteries to become blocked. 

Strangely some studies also show that sleeping more than seven hours can also cause this buildup. So pay attention when you sleep and if you have trouble sleeping, consult your doctor.

8. Try to maintain a healthy weight. 

Being overweight is a significant risk factor for heart disease or heart attack. Even if you are only 20% overweight, it can still increase your risk; obesity itself can increase the risk of heart problems. 

So what should you do? What about starting a sports program and eating healthier foods. Don't start a heavy program; start with light exercise and follow some of the other tips above.

Again, do not start an exercise program or diet change without consulting your doctor first. Currently, the highest death rate caused by disease is heart disease. 

You can do several things to help you live a longer and longer life. Get help as soon as possible.
